Story Summary

Set in post-war Rome, Cinderella (2011) tells the story of Aurora, a talented 13-year-old pianist. She is the daughter of Valerio, a famous orchestra conductor. After the loss of her mother, her father hires Irene, a single mother with two daughters, to manage their home. Much to Aurora’s dismay, her father eventually marries Irene.

One day, Aurora meets her new neighbors, Freddy and Sebastian. Freddy is cheerful yet somewhat arrogant, while Sebastian is gentle and understanding. Aurora finds herself drawn to Sebastian’s kind nature, and they soon form a special bond.

Tragedy strikes when Aurora’s father suddenly passes away. Her stepmother Irene seizes control of the family estate, converting their home into a hotel. Aurora, still too young to claim her rightful inheritance, is forced by Irene to quit her studies and abandon her music dreams. She is made to work as a maid in what was once her family’s villa.
